After some major lineup changes, the band still plays bone hard death metal but know how to keep your attention by using varied tempos and the (sporadic) use of samples, choirs and female vocals. Debut album by Strapping Young Lad. It is a noisy record, very angry thrash/death with industrial influences. Devin Townsend handled all the guitars, bass and vocal work, with various guest musicians involved. Strapping Young Lad would become a legitimate act after this album, featuring the godly Gene Hoglan on the drums. Samples and industrial beats are used often enough to make the album interesting. It isn't the band's best album, but it does an adequate job at putting into place the basic elements of Strapping Young Lad.
