At a time when death metal was still looking for recognition, Swedish band Nihilist changed their name to Entombed, grabbed some old demos and proceeded to recording their debut album. They mixed the relentless thrashy aggression and riffage of floridian death metal with a healthy dose of groove and a bit of experimentalism. And then the swedish death metal sound was born!

From Kärki’s demonic growling, through the annihilating drumming of Estby and onto the forefront with Bomqvist, Sennebäck, Cabeza and Andersson, this album is the pinnacle of death metal. There are chainsaw-sounding guitars blasting out riff after riff, there's insane aggression and it's all in a perfect (dis)harmony.

Debut album by Kreator. A pretty damn brutal release for 1985, a promising effort brought forth by a young and extremely determined band. It just never stops to kick your ass and shows an incredibly young and unexperienced but hungry and inspired trio of evil thrashers. The recording quality isn't exactly the best, as the guitars are pretty thin and the drums and vocals often overpower the rest.
