2nd album by One Step Beyond. They describe themselves as a fusion of Napalm Death and Primus, which wouldn't be far off. Death metal is merely the foundation for their approach, which incorporates everything from grindcore, funk, industrial through to reggae. Bass is pervasive throughout the album. An original album that deserves to be heard by everyone with an interest in the offbeat.

8th album by Krisiun. The band only used analog gear and instruments in an attempt to create a more organic sounding record. The majority of the songs contain extreme tempo variations, fairly clean guitar work and distinct patterns. They are not the typical Krisiun tracks, however they don’t stray far enough away to an unrecognizability. Great guest appearance in my favorite song (track 9) by Gordo (Ratos De Porao).

7th album by Criminal. This is a great example of death derived thrash/groove metal, catchy riffs, growling vocals from a mature band who're here for the long haul. The cool thing about Criminal is the fact that they mix their fast thrashy beatdowns with actual double-bass heavy breakdowns, catchy rhythms and greatly inspired solos.

Debut album by Vallenfyre, a side project consisting of Gregor Mackintosh (Paradise Lost) on vocals and lead guitar, Hamish Glencross (My Dying Bride) on rhythm and lead guitars, Scoot (Extinction of Mankind, Doom) on bass, Adrian Erlandsson (At The Gates, Paradise Lost) on drums and Mully on rhythm guitars. Written by Mackintosh while grieving the death of his father, the subject matter is suitably gloomy and they call their sound  “Pure, crusty old school death metal''.
