2nd album by Annihilator. With the unfortunate departure of Randy Rampage and the replacement by Coburn Pharr behind the mic the band took a slightly cleaner and more melodic approach than before. Jeff Waters is absolutely brilliant, even if most of the songs here tend to be mid-paced and this is another classic by Annihilator.

By their 3rd album Coroner had refined their style to a respectable level. No More Color is probably the band's most mature release up to that point and despite all the technicality and variety in their sound the music remains crushingly heavy and focused. This release remains to be a fine example of the band's potential and skills. Supported by some great, rich production, it is the heaviest and probably the best of Coroner's early albums.

Debut album by Legacy Of Emptiness, the reincarnation of the original line-up of the band Ancestral Legacy. This is dark but highly melodic black metal, with most of the melody driven by gothic-sounding keyboards. The focus is much more on atmosphere than it is on heaviness. The songs are well crafted, with melodic hooks that don’t distract from the atmosphere and a production that perfectly suits the band’s sound.

2nd album by The Fucking Wrath. They are successfully mixing the downtuned nastiness of sludge, the galloping vibes of stoner with some nice old school thrash metal punch. It's exactly this alchemy of thrashing heaviness and retro rocking groove that makes this album such a pleasure to listen. This album is a beast combining Black Sabbath with Slayer and some punk attitude.

Debut album by Skirmish. There are a lot of death/thrash influences as well as black metal, but on the whole speed and thrash metal predominates. The amalgam of influences combined with strong lead vocals, nice melodic riffs and a good sound / production make this a surprisingly good album.
