Thomen's drumming is fast and repetitive yet satisfying, Andre's leads precise and melodic, Marcus' rhythm guitar patterns simplistic and fast and Hansi's voice powerful and slightly rough.

2nd album by Blind Guardian and my favorite one. Still thrashier and angrier than the sound they'd develop later in their career. A blend between thrash and fantasy-tinged melodic speed metal with the occasional bombastic chorus thrown in. The guitar playing is fast and whipping and the rhythm parts consisting mainly of fast-picked riffs.

Debut album by Blind Guardian. They took influence from the NWOBHM scene and then developing US speed metal sound to create some of the most influential metal albums to come out of Europe. The production is not as clean and polished as their later albums; it's quite raw and heavy, which suits the music and atmosphere of this album very well.
