Yakuza - Samsara

Genre: Progr. Heavy/Sludge
Country: U.S.A.
Year: 2006

1. Cancer Of Industry
2. Plecostomus
3. Monkeytail
4. Transmission Ends… Signal Lost
5. Dishonor
6. 20 Bucks
7. Exterminator
8. Just Say Know
9. Glory Hole
10. Back To The Mountain

3rd album by Yakuza, featuring a number of guests, including Minsk bassist Sanford Parker, pianist Jim Baker, cellist Fred Lonberg-Holm and Mastodon guitarist Troy Sanders. Yakuza’s crucial point is their inclusion of saxophone and clarinet. Some parts sound like classical metal, some parts very chaotic. Blending electric and organic instrumentation is never easy, but Yakuza can maintain an adequate balance of the aggressive, the experimental and the melodic throughout the course of an entire album.

Hypnosia - Extreme Hatred

Genre: Thrash
Country: Sweden
Year: 2000

1. Extreme Hatred
2. Circle Of The Flesh
3. The Last Remains
4. Operation Clean-Sweep
5. Comatose
6. Act Of Lunacy
7. Gates Of Cirith Ungol
8. Hang 'em High
9. Traumatic Suffering

Debut album by Hypnosia. Hyperspeed thrash done to perfection, with sweet lyrics about hatred, violence, cruelty, death and more hatred. Furious screaming vocals similar to Kreator, hyperactive drums, guitars that don’t know when to shut up and are mostly fast and furious, stop and go breaks. The death metal influence is there but overall, this is really a thrash gem.

Debut album by Skull Hammer, a thrash trio that keep things simple and effective. They bring in mind a mix of Forbidden, late 80's DRI with a touch of NWOBHM thrown in. You'll be disappointed by the first songs, that are simply average, but then you'll get what Skull Hammer really have to offer to thrash.

11. Round Trip
12. Between The Lines
13.Symbols Of Our Fear
14.Neurotic

3rd album by Rage, where they decided to add more variety to their sound, by mixing power metal elements in their speed metal sound. It is full of catchy speed metal songs with melodic, but not wimpy vocals. Rage has always put a premium on catchy vocal melodies and 'Perfect Man' is no exception. Most songs have choruses that will stick in your head well after you are done listening.

Nuclear Assault - Handle With Care

12. Trail Of Tears

3rd album by Nuclear Assault. Whether the songs are really fast or pretty mid paced, they’re all remarkably catchy here. The band manages to incorporate slightly more melody than the previous albums without losing aggression. Lyrically, the band fancy themselves as a kind of political thrash band in the purest sense of the words. They address issues as diverse as enviromental issues, animal experimentation, personal freedoms, etc.

The songs on here are divided within two groups. The first being speed metal monsters and the second being slower mid-paced traditional heavy metal tunes.

Achren - The Forgotten King

1. Impaled
2. The Way Of The Twilight Or The Aura Of Flies
3. Bastards On The Gallows Or Bastards On The Rack

5. Fury Of The Northmen
6. The Forgotten King
7. Darkest Day
8. Manuel's Mile
9. Wings Of War
10. Pestilence

Debut album by Achren. Great mix of black/thrash with some death metal influences. 2 songs are new material and the rest have been taken from previous material demos, split, Eps, but given a new lease of life with improved production. The band certainly knows how to have fun, but their music is a no-nonsense form of metal. The production and musicianship are solid and the leadwork is actually pretty damned good.

Accept - Restless And Wild

Genre: Heavy
Country: Germany
Year: 1982

1. Fast As A Shark
2. Restless And Wild
3. Ahead Of The Pack

5. Neon Nights
6. Get Ready
7. Demon's Night
8. Flash Rockin' Man
9. Don't Go Stealin' My Soul Away
10. Princess Of The Dawn

4th album by Accept. This album is as pure uncut metal as it gets. Most of the stuff on here is totally killer. The classic Accept style is as strong as always. Pure metal riffs, Udo's rough, high-pitched vocals and loads of memorable melodies. Despite some slight flaws, this is still an essential heavy metal album and an undeniable classic.

W.A.S.P. - The Last Command

Genre: Heavy
Country: U.S.A.
Year: 1985

1. Wild Child
2. Ballcrusher
3. Fistful Of Diamonds
4. Jack Action
5. Widowmaker
6. Blind In Texas
7. Cries In the Night
8. The Last Command
9. Running Wild In The Streets
10. Sex Drive

2nd album by W.A.S.P.. It was a middle-finger salute to the newly formed PMRC, a political group who were targeting offensive artists, including W.A.S.P. With a more focused songwriting approach, the band has created a worthy successor to the debut. Blackie Lawless still displays that raspy voice, that has become a trademark and his bass playing is steady. Same goes for guitarists Chris Holmes and Randy Piper.

11. Victim Iced

2nd album by The Haunted. Peter Dolving along with Adrian Erlandsson left the band, being replaced by Marco Aro (vocals) and Per Möller Jensen (drums). The Bjorler brothers have never sounded tighter, they go from those huge, soaring melodies to those breakdowns so effortlessly. The songs last average around 3 to 4 minutes in length, their vocals are nearly intelligible, their guitar solos never become annoying and their songwriting never breaks too far away from traditional song structuring.

3rd album by Antipope. The band takes their black, heavy, doom and gothic metal influenced music to a new even groovier direction. Music on the album forms an immoral union of energy flowing extreme metal and delicate gloomy ballads. A dark atmosphere with amazing vocal performance and elements that make this album strange and positively disturbing.

3rd album by Skyclad. The sound marks another step away from the band’s thrash roots and the violin keeps on gaining in importance. The album is better balanced between metal and folk than its predecessor and the songs themselves are more compact. The songwriting is more subtle and varied than on the first two albums.
