Debut album by 324. 'Sun of Desecration' (in english) contains killer riffs, thick bass, blast beats and deep yelling vocals in japanese. The production of the album is surprisingly good for the year. The album is extremely consistent, no low points and no tracks that you’d skip and it clocks around 24 minutes.

2nd album by Cruachan. After an impressive debut of black/folk metal, this one was rather a disappointment for the blacksters. Here, the black metal moments are rare and a more simpler heavy/folk approach conquers. Nevertheless, this is a solid album, with nice guitarwork, active celtic music and a full use of folk instruments.

2nd album by Hateplow. If their 1st effort was more focused on the pure death metal with more mid paced riffs, here we have a carnage! Musically this album can be seen as a mix of early grindcore influences with a massive dose of brutal death metal. The songs are catchy, memorable, short and relentless! This album is a complete and utter percussive onslaught by drummer Dave Culross (Malevolent Creation, Suffocation).

2nd album by Nasum. In spite of inclusion of more melodious presentation of their sounds with a considerably higher groove factor than their previous outing, it is still a very brutal, savage album. The production of the album is extremely well done. The technical riffing and the interchange between hard grinding noise and groovy death metal sound is also well done.

5th album by Dismember. It is a solid death metal album, but ... The band just doesn't seem to have much energy or creativity on this album, as it's simply not memorable. The things that hurt the album the most are Karki's vocals and the lyrics, which both seem to have lost a ton of the misanthropic nature that they once possessed.

Debut self-released album by Bran Barr. It can't reach the quality of their 2nd masterpiece, but it shows the roots of the band. Raw and rough black metal with screams, growls, clean vocals, folky instruments and acoustic passages. There are great moments but they are not enough and they are scattered here and there. A lot of early Cruachan influences.

Debut album by Hin Onde, a band mainly consisted of Azaghal members. They combine heavy guitars and partly rough vocals with epic keyboard parts and enrich it with folky melodies and also a clean voice. The band uses synthesizers for a lot of their melodies and the tone works very well with the guitar and subtle drumming.

Debut album by Hypnosia. Hyperspeed thrash done to perfection, with sweet lyrics about hatred, violence, cruelty, death and more hatred. Furious screaming vocals similar to Kreator, hyperactive drums, guitars that don’t know when to shut up and are mostly fast and furious, stop and go breaks. The death metal influence is there but overall, this is really a thrash gem.

2nd album by The Haunted. Peter Dolving along with Adrian Erlandsson left the band, being replaced by Marco Aro (vocals) and Per Möller Jensen (drums). The Bjorler brothers have never sounded tighter, they go from those huge, soaring melodies to those breakdowns so effortlessly. The songs last average around 3 to 4 minutes in length, their vocals are nearly intelligible, their guitar solos never become annoying and their songwriting never breaks too far away from traditional song structuring.
