The album is full of beautiful and pleasant changes everything in a great epic climate, which either leads to relentless blastbeats, either melodic parentheses, that eases the war mood. Traditional instruments and folk rhythms blend masterfully with the wild, angry and aggressive epic black atmosphere, with a guitar orgy, with blasbeats, merciless pounding, ecstatic keyboards and brutal vocals.

Unholy Cadaver - Unholy Cadaver

Genre: Progr.Heavy/Doom/Death/Black
Country: U.S.A.
Year: 2011

1. Intro
2. On This Final Night
3. Fuck The Galactic Police

Unholy Cadaver released a demo in 1998 and then renamed in Hammers Of Misfortune. 13 years later we have this record, that includes the demo songs plus more. Imagine Hammers Of Misfortune in a more Black/Death way combined with the weirdness of Cathedral. Amazing songs that combine everything, from doom to progressive heavy, from death to black. It definately enters in my 2011 top album list.

Agalloch - Pale Folklore

Genre: Atm.Folk/Black
Country: U.S.A.
Year: 1999

1. She Painted Fire Across The Skyline - Part I
2. She Painted Fire Across The Skyline - Part II
3. She Painted Fire Across The Skyline - Part III
4. The Misshapen Steed
5. Hallways Of Enchanted Ebony
6. Dead Winter Days
7. As Embers Dress The Sky
8. The Melancholy Spirit

Debut album by Agalloch. They took their folky black metal style (demos era) and mingled it with post rock. The result is an intriguing album, with the atmosphere of black metal laid out in post rock fashion  and some folky guitar playing thrown into the mix.  It's very folk inspired, a lot of great guitar playing and the instrumentals are truly breathtaking. The simplicity of this album displays that it's not always necessary to throw in technical riffs and solos to shape uniquely creative songs.

Slough Feg - The Lord Weird Slough Feg

Genre: Heavy
Country: U.S.A.
Year: 1996

1. Shadows Of The Unborn
2. 20th Century Wretch
3. Blarney Stone
4. The Red Branch
5. Why Not
6. High Season III
7. High Season IV
8. Highway Corsair

Debut album by (The Lord Weird) Slough Feg. This is a delightfully cool disc of folky, upbeat heavy metal, with one of the best vocalists you'll ever have the pleasure of hearing. It has a completly unique sound largely due in part to the incredible tenor voice of singer Mike Scalzi. The music sounds like the epic metal stylings of Manilla Road or Solstice combined with good amounts of Maiden in the guitar works and most everything they do has a bit of a celtic feel.

Ludicra - Hollow Psalms

Genre: Black
Country: U.S.A.
Year: 2002

1. Tomorrow Held In Scorn
2. Hollow Promise
3. The Final Lamentation
4. Userpent
5. Heaped Upon Impassive Floors
6. Damn The Night
7. Tragedia
8. Awake To Grey

Debut album by Ludicra. While their influences (Darkthrone, Dissection, Satyricon) shine through in their music, their sound is defiantly unique. The album is progressive in the sense that strange things always happen in each track. Shanaman’s screams are some of the best that any female metal vocalist has to offer. There’s a certain power to the drummer’s performance, too, as he fluidly shifts between styles.

It is a three-act concept album, a swords-and-sorcery epic about vengeance, royalty and betrayal, told through the stellar songwriting of guitarist Cobbett and the triad of vocalists Mike Scalzi (Slough Feg, etc.), former Ministry bassist Janis Tanaka and Cobbett himself. Awesome record!

Living Death - Vengeance Of Hell

Genre: Thrash/Speed
Country: Germany
Year: 1984

1. You And Me
2. Living Death
3. Nightlight
4. My Victim
5. Labyrinth
6. Heavy Metal Hurricane
7. Hellpike
8. Riding A Virgin
9. Vengeance Of Hell

Debut album by Living Death. What we have here is some rather standard heavy/speed metal very much in the vein of Accept and Motorhead. Most of the songs are quick slices of speed metal. The guitarists work well together, locking in tightly and providing some aggressive rhythm work. The bad points of this debut are the vocals and the production, that lack in aggression.

Whiplash - Power And Pain

Genre: Thrash
Country: U.S.A.
Year: 1985

1. Stage Dive
2. Red Lamb
3. Last Man Alive
4. Message In Blood
5. War Manger
6. Power Thrashing Death
7. Stirring The Caudran
8. Spit On Your Grave
9. Nailed To The Cross

Debut album by Whiplash, with the classic three Tony's line-up (Portaro, Bono and Scaglione). It is full of relentless, straightforward pounding and the band's characteristic machine gun riffs. Although a lot of the material sounds a bit samey and Tony Portaro's vocals are extremely raw, there's something fresh and honest in this kind of no-nonsense thrash supported by adequate production values.

Gigan - Quasi-Hallucinogenic Sonic Landscapes

Genre: Techn. Death/Grindcore
Country: U.S.A.
Year: 2011

1. Mountains Perched Like Beasts Awaiting The Attack
2. Suspended In Cubes Of Torment
3. The Raven And The Crow
4. In The Tentacled Grasp Of A Buried Behemoth
5. Transmogrification Into Bio-Luminoid
6. Skeletons Of Steel, Timber And Blackened Granite
7. Vespelmadeen Terror
8. Fathomless Echoes Of Eternity’s Imagination

2nd full length album by Gigan, a a talented trio of musicians who managed to craft something that combines early '90s experimental grindcore with late '90s prog-tech death metal. They play a complex and technical brand of death metal that uses odd time signatures, discordant riffing, chaotic song writing that draws influence from a lot of different areas. The riffing of Eric Hersemann is insanely complex, confusing and mind-altering.

6. Hellion
7. Sleeping (In The Fire)
8. On Your Knees
9. Tormentor
10. The Torture Never Stops

Debut album by W.A.S.P.. This record is a tribute to alcohol, sex and rock n roll. Blackie's vocals are simply astonishing. He has that special voice tone, which is like it was built for heavy metal. Lots of catchy riffs, nice soloing and generally straightforward songwriting centred around a few riffs per song.

2. Runesang
3. Balder's Pyre
4. Fallen In Blood
5. Far From Gotland
6. Verinen Saagat

Debut album by Valtyr. Musically it is an almost identical copy to Falkenbach, perhaps with some aspects similar to Bathory could also say. Nothing new and original, but it's a nice listening for the fans of Falkenbach.

Battlecross - Pursuit Of Honor

Genre: Mel. Death/Thrash
Country: U.S.A.
Year: 2011

4. Deception
5. Man of Stone
6. Breaking You
7. Rupture
8. Leech
9. Better Off Dead
10. Misery
11. Foreshadowing

2nd album by Battlecross. Not only does it have elements that fans of a variety of sub-genres can relate to, but it combines them excellently well to result in a very cohesive, well-rounded album. Blurring the lines of old-school thrash and melodic death metal, they remind old good In Flames with a more thrashy edge.
