Debut album by X-Wild. The group features the ex-Running Wild musicians Axel Morgan, Jens Becker and Stefan Schwarzmann and the british singer Frank Knight. It is a solid piece of heavy metal, imagine a mix of Accept and Running Wild. It's the least impressive of their three albums, but there are some good tunes.

7th album by Pantera. In this release the group pushed their heaviness and groove even further. Dimebag's chugging guitars along his Vinnie's drums and Phil's shrieking vocals come alive every song and stays strong throughout the entire album. The bass lines are also pretty intense due to the pure production and adds a groovy feeling.

6th album by Slayer. Paul Bostaph replaced Dave Lombardo behind the drum kit and proves to be a worthy replacement. The speed of the songs has been lowed down, without loosing the quality. This release was a definition of how modern thrash should sound back in the '90s.

The album seamlessly mixes their older insane speeds, newer death metal influences and adds in a touch of the groove metal of the time, to create an utterly compelling release, that ranges various tempos and styles while still maintaining the classic Napalm Death feel and attitude. This is definitely more death metal than grind, a fact made obvious by the scarce use of blastbeats.

4th album by Mercyful Fate. The songs are very memorable and almost have a groovy twist in them thanks to the killer rhythm section. Musically, we got a lot more experimentation here than usual, but it works out great. This album is a little less ferocious than previous releases and maybe even a little more commercial-sounding at times.

4th album by Edge Of Sanity. The band initially wanted to release 2 separate EP's: ''Purgatory''; the more traditional death metal oriented songs and ''Afterglow''; the experimental/hard rock songs. Swano's songwriting refuses to compromise stylistically, as he was deeply influenced by 70's and 80's prog rock. The album  contains just enough of aggression, prog and catchiness to make all the songs on the album memorable.

3rd album by Gorefest. It is the link between the first two eras of the band, the pure death metal one and the death'n'roll/hard rock one. This record still has brutality and agression but in a more slower form. It mainly consists of slow and mid-tempo songs and although there is an up-tempo part to be found now and then, Gorefest never really hit the gas.

Debut album by Satyricon. Occult norwegian black metal from the early 90s, cold and grim guitars with upbeat drumming and old school blasphemic vocals. This entire album resonates with a feeling of ominous darkness and almost dream-like atmosphere. Genuine medieval darkness is here, dark castles, evil forests, otherworlds, the plague and cold are all present on this album.
