Hirax - El Rostro De La Muerte

Genre: Thrash/Speed/Crossover
Country: U.S.A.
Year: 2009

1. Baptized By Fire
2. Flesh And Blood
3. Eradicate Mankind
4. Chaos And Brutality
5. El Rostro De La Muerte (The Face Of Death)
6. Blind Faith
7. Horrified
8. Battle Of The North
9. The Laws Of Temptation
10. Death Militia
11. Broken Neck
12. Violent Assault
13. Cuando Cae La Oscuridad (When Darkness Falls)
14. Satan’s Fall

4th album by Hirax. They fuse metal and hardcore with De Pena’s manic, almost speed metal like vocals on the top of some blistering riffs that were always played at full speed. The riffs kill, the solos sear, the songwriting is memorable and De Pena’s vocals are completely off the rails. John Haddad’s recording is pretty damn strong as well and the Ed Repka artwork is most appropriate.

Fukpig - Spewings From A Selfish Nation

Genre: D-Beat/Black/Grindcore
Country: England
Year: 2009

1. The Horror Is Here
2. Necropunk
3. Switchblade Romance
4. As the Bombs Fall
5. As Millions Suffer
6. Bombs of War
7. Cunt Hive
8. Mother Nature's Tears
9. Millions Dying
10. Thrash Armageddon
11. When Will We Hear Their Cries
12. Negative Mental Attitude
13. Caught Out
14. Inertia

Debut album by Fukpig, a side-project of Mick Kenney from Anaal Nathrakh and 2 familiar cohorts from Frost and Mistress who focus here on marrying black metal with crust punk. This is crusty, grinding, blackened metal armageddon with screaming leads and crushing chugs. Occasionally rare synth-orchestral keyboard passages dominate the music. Blend Discharge, Napalm Death, Tragedy and any 2nd generation black metal band and you have this ... A Fuckin' Holocaust.

Danzig - Deth Red Sabaoth

Genre: Heavy/Doom
Country: U.S.A.
Year: 2010

1. Hammer Of The Gods
2. The Revengeful
3. Rebel Spirits
4. Black Candy
5. On A Wicked Night
6. Deth Red Moon
7. Ju Ju Bone
8. Night Star Hel
9. Pyre Of Souls (Incanticle)
10. Pyre Of Souls (Seasons Of Pain)
11. Left Hand Rise Above

9th studio album by Danzig, with a lineup including Prong's Tommy Victor on guitars and Type O Negative's Johnny Kelly on drums. There are no real surprises here and Danzig stays close to home and in familiar territory with haunting songs. The quality of the song compositions on Deth Red Sabaoth is generally very good, but not quite up to par with the material on Danzig’s first two albums.

14. Candy Now 15. Do The HeWhoCannotBeNamed
16. Your Girl's Mom 17. Zip Zero 18. The Band That Wouldn't Die

10th album by The Dwarves. This album is a return to the hardcore punk of earlier albums like Blood Guts & Pussy, but with far higher production values, a pop-punk sensibility and more polished songwriting. The Dwarves still have no lack of skills to write catchy, pornographic, drug induced lyrics. The 18 songs fly by in a haze of aggression, humour and ferocious fucked-upness.

21. Diamonds And Rust (extended version)

Debut album by Stormtroopers Of Death, a crossover project featuring Scott Ian and Charlie Benante of Anthrax, Dan Lilker of Nuclear Assault and punk vocalist/lyricist Billy Milano. They blended the distortion and riffage of metal with the blazing speed, frenetic energy and gotohell attitude of hardcore punk. The lyrics on the album aren't meant to be taken seriously and for the most part they are pretty funny.

Artillery - Fear Of Tommorow

Genre: Thrash/Speed
Country: Denmark
Year: 1985

1. Time Has Come
2. The Almighty
3. Show Your Hate
4. King Thy Name Is Slayer
5. Out Of The Sky
6. Into The Universe
7. The Eternal War
8. Fear Of Tomorrow
9. Deeds Of Darkness

Debut album by Artillery. It sounds a little rough when compared to the band's later releases, but it is already a solid representation of their customary style. One of the most distinguishable features in the typical Artillery sound was the dramatic, relatively high-pitched vocals of Flemming Ronsdorf who was not quite your stereotypical shouter.

Strikelight - Taste My Attack

Genre: Heavy/NWOBHM
Country: Greece
Year: 2011

1. Awakening (Instrumental)
2. Taste My Attack
3. Heavy Metal Strike
4. Youthful Fire
5. Dead For You
6. Evil’s Decay
7. My Living Hell
8. Hellbiker’s Tale
9. Asmodeus’ Rage

2nd album by Strikelight. Old school heavy metal with major NWOBHM influences and a voice that seems to be stuck in the '80s. Killer guitar riffs, nice galloping drums accompanied with an old school bass attitude. With no modern influences at all and songs that sometimes reach the level of epicness, the band pays tribute to pure heavy metal.

Igzordium - Eremitic Vibrations

Genre: Black/Death/Thrash
Country: U.S.A.
Year: 2011

1. Eremitic Vibrations
2. Mass Psychosis
3. Trapped In Silence
4. This Is War
5. The Ocean Beneath Me
6. This Blood Runs Cold
7. Wanted Dead
8. Insanity Reigns
9. The Heart Of The Beast
10. Creation Of Maya

2nd album by Igzordium, an one-man band that mixes all the influences from thrash to death to black metal. 10 tracks of 38 minutes, that flow perfectly smooth without making you bored at all. The guy behind Igzordium uses harsh black vocals, clean ones and even a guest female singer. The whole effort is very interesting, with nice production and catchy songwritting.

5. Full Force Rage
6. Shadow Of Fear
7. Sorgh
8. All Gods Are Gone

Forbidden - Forbidden Evil

Genre: Thrash
Country: U.S.A.
Year: 1988

1. Chalice Of Blood
2. Off The Edge
3. Through Eyes Of Glass
4. Forbidden Evil
5. March Into Fire
6. Feel No Pain
7. As Good As Dead
8. Follow Me

Debut album by Forbidden. It is a convincing debut release, featuring some inspired guitar work and a lot of memorable songs. Russ Anderson's vocals are very powerful and distinctive and the music is generally more original and stronger than what many other bands of the era had to offer. There's some roughness in the sound but the overall production is sufficiently heavy and clear.

Flotsam And Jetsam - Doomsday For The Deceiver

Genre: Thrash/Speed
Country: U.S.A.
Year: 1986

1. Hammerhead
2. Iron Tears
3. Desecrator
4. Fade To Black
5. Doomsday For The Deceiver
6. Metalshock
7. She Took An Axe
8. U.L.S.W.
9. Der Führer
10. Flotzilla

The classic debut of Flotsam And Jetsam is a mixture of immense speed and some weird humor in lyrics. Eric A.K. had an extremely high-pitched voice that is very distinctive, but may not be, for some fans, the most appropriate for this kind of music. It is still an interesting piece of old thrash metal and probably one of the more remarkable releases this band ever made.

Soothsayer - Have A Good Time

Genre: Thrash/Crossover
Country: Canada
Year: 1989

1. Free Violence
2. Dig
3. Buzz Fly
4. The Game I
5. 101
6. Go Team Go
7. E.T.
8. The Game II
9. Pimple Sprayer
10. Together To Make A World
11. Changes
12. Rock'N'Roll Forever

Debut album Soothsayer, that were one of the most energetic, fun and underrated crossover/thrash bands of the 80's. There is absolutely nothing innovative here ( a mix of Metallica, D.R.I., Suicidal Tendencies), but instead of it there are 38 minutes of very enjoyable punkish thrash metal, lots of headbanging riffs, amazing drumming, nice audible bass lines, quite good vocals and funny lyrics.

Headhot - Synchronicity

Genre: Thrash/Death
Country: Germany
Year: 2011

1. Fallen From Grace
2. Hell Remains
3. In Silence
4. Intensify My Fear
5. Synchronicity
6. State Of The Art
7. Sanctuary
8. Falling Off The Edge Of The World
9. Agony Of Sickness
10. Control Denied

Headshot founded in 1993 and having released since then 4 albums, in 2011 they've released their 5th one with a female in vocals this time, Daniela Karrer (ex-Uppercut). They are coming from Germany, but teutonic thrash is not the style they prefer. They play a mix of swedish melodic death/thrash with american modern thrash, with plenty of solos and melodic riffs, reminding Arch Enemy in moments, and they do it very good.

Surrealist - Unexpected Being

Genre: Techn.Thrash/Death
Country: Switzerland
Year: 2011

1. Intro

5. Nature's Revenge
6. Spread The Black Wings
7. Planetary Suicide
8. Into The Twilight
9. Tools Of The Ghosts
10. Stone Garden Project

Debut album by the swiss trio Surrealist. From a musical point of view “Unexpected being” pays homage to the great and original metal bands of the '80s and early '90s. Imagine a perfect mix of Coroner, Death and Atheist. The production and the vocals are on the thrash level, but the songwritting and the musicianship are moving in the death metal levels.
